saw the movie 'Iqbaal' finally....(and pls wipe off the incredulous expression.....mughal-e-azam, maine pyaar kiya, khamoshi - the musical etc are still on my "to see" list).....
what struck me about the movie first was not the spirit, dedication, perseverance of the hero....but how the whole family is so happy in the midst of so many difficulties....there wasn't a single moment when the mother lost her faith or hope and the same goes for the two kids....we get so churned by the hassles of day to day living that we forget to be happy....and these people had been given a raw deal by fate but still they were always smiling and positive....
isko chhodo, yeh to movie hai, i wonder at the guy in 'pursuit of happyness'....is that attitude for real?????
yes, happiness is definitely a pursuit......but i feel that it is just a concious choice/decision we have to make in the course of this pursuit.....because if you wait to reach a milestone in order to be happy, you miss the chance of living each moment on the way.....i think we also make it a 'pursuit' so as to have something to live for, work for....warna ek baar mil gaya to chaah kiski rahegi?? and, after all, what is life without an unfulfilled dream?
if i look at it this way, i suppose that i m happy at this phase of my life....i use the word 'suppose' because you can label your state of mind only in hindsight - those were the happy days! thank god those days are over! i feel so as at this point, i dont want to change anything in my life (except maybe the rent i pay!)....and since i am satisfied with this 'status quo', i dont want any pursuit to change it....i have dad with me, i somehow manage to pay my bills every month and emotionally i am at some level peace after a long time....and for a change i ve started to keep myself guilt free......
ok...before people who know me start wondering what change has come over me and what happened to my so called 'fierce ambitions', i want to clarify that they are still very much there ( bad luck for my future pati...) but just have been relegated to the back burner for the time being as i am so much satisfied with papa being with me.....i have stayed away from him for 15 years, unmindful of him, intent just on carving my own road and now when i m staying with him finally i realise how much both of us needed each other and have missed each other over the years.....so finally when we are together, i dont want to spoil things by shifting my focus to career or marriage....
enuf of funda......i shud stop before i end up confusing myself...and others.....just another thing before i sign off....please do try to count the number of twists in 'Race' if u ever get around to watching it......
