Of books and updates

i watched the movie "the pursuit of happyness" today....and i m simple bowled over...swampled ....by the hero...esp since it is based on a true story....how can somebody be so positive, so determined, so perservering in spite of such big odds!! a truly inspiring story....i find myself small and my troubles miniscule in perspective! i salute chris gardner as a true hero.....and i wish god would somehow give me 5% of what he had.....

speaking of troubles, i m in for a new one! these days i have started sort of disliking cooking...not exactly dislike but it seems a kind of chore now from which i would like a break....every morning and evening i feel like "oh no not again" and then i have to take a deeeeeep breath and face the kitchen!! at the same time i simply hate the idea of keeping a cook....i stare at ads for cooks for 5 mins and then give a definitive shake of my head, refusing the idea of giving dad food cooked by someone else and then reach home and get cooking with a huge sigh.....somehow i m not comfortable with the idea of letting somebody else cook, i would always be worried whether they would get it just right for dad.....also i would feel my kitchen being invaded.......

i think that the only way to reconcile the two parallel streams of thought in my head is to treat cooking as a part of my daily routine.... something like bathing, brushing teeth and eating! if i dont skip these on a holiday, i shud not want to skip cooking too!! lets see how this works out......

On the professional front, i am getting released from my current project, finally!! now, i would be moving on to work for our biggest client.....i am not sure whether i wanted to go straight on to a project or work for DCG (Domain consulting group, which does the business development activities) for a while....the other issue is that since the client is big, it would sort of black hole which would swallow me and would be really difficult to come out!! but lets see, i m keeping my fingers crossed.....

On the book front, now that the marriage is done and my work is cool, i have a lot of free time and i finally got some time to read....."journey to ithaca" by anita desai is a gripping book and i was loathe to leave it to go to office....it explores indian inclination to pilgrimmages, saintlyness and moksha and how the west sees and explores it.....why we are not satisfied with what we want in life....and more importantly how we can understand what we really want in life....i think i would need to read the book again to get its full measure.....i had picked up the book in landmark just because it was on sale and was by anita desai...i think it is time to read books by this author, i have read three till now and liked all......

last weekend was great- the house was empty after a long time and it felt good to be alone and relaxed! sunday me and pp had gone for lunch to sunil....it was fun and relaxing...after a long time i had time to just sit and talk with friends......and chitra is a wonderful cook...so i ate good food, not cooked by me......

kudos to archana and vikram for finally tying the knot!!!
