As I prepare to leave Nice, I wonder how much i will miss this place and the life i had here. Not that i am getting much time for contemplation.....what with the assignments, packing, cleaning the apartment, parties etc but whenever i walk on the Avenue de la Californie, where my feet have trodden hundreds of times in the past three months....or whenever i see the sea which has been the first to greet me good morning every day, i cannot help get ting nostalgic...not for the schedule we had here...but for the place and the way of life here.....
No dust, no hordes of pedestrians....ppl dont shout here...no sounds of horns blowing, ppl fighting, traffic snarling......ppl will fight politely, disagree politely.....u can enjoy walking here and not be overwhelmed by the dust and the noise and the pollution. Life here is not a constant pressure with deadlines looming ahead. and i dont mean this only for b skool students like us....in india office meant drudgery with the paycheck being the consolation...and we were always running...office work, personal work, house work etc....here u see ppl living life easily....even in paris which is a pretty fast and busy city, i never got the feel that ppl are always on the run while u r hit with this feeling the moment u step on dadar station. I loved these three months and been happier here than the entire one and half years at mdi....
now i ll be accessible on phone...anyone can call me anytime and i have to answer demands of ppl having a claim on me....here i cud be reached by a select few and each phone call wud be answered with anticipation while in india sometimes each phone call is answered with trepidation!
But india is my home, my life and i look forward to go there and i know in a couple of days i ll forget that time had ever stood still for me, that life had ever been so peaceful and so relaxing....hey i ll get to use my phone again, i ll get to speak to all my friends, i get to eat all the stuff i have been missing for days....and i get the internet for 24 hours...all the gossip...in two months i pass out (hopefully with a job) and get bak to the life i had loved.... and since life in india demands all ur time, attention and energy, i ll have to leave my dream world and get the much needed reality check.
yes, i look forward to jumping bak into my old life again...and these 3 months will become a part of the memories i keep refreshing when the present seems drab and the future empty......
