I had been trying to attend aerobics for a long time now.....lets see....i mulled over this thought for a month before i joined my new gym...and around 45 days post joining...in these 45 days i tried a lot to make it to the class....unfortunately it used to begin at 7 in the morning and i used to reach earliest by 7.20 (and i dont like being late) so i always postponed it to the next day. Finally, i realised that mornings wouldnt work for me and i thought of catching the evening class. unfortunately, by the time i reached to this decision, my gym stopped evening group classes for renovation.....and so it went on and on.
Yesterday night, i resolved that come what may, i would attend it today. got up at 6.25, got ready and reached the gym dot at 7.00. I asked the trainer to confirm the timing just to make casual conversation at the reception. He said that there was no aerobics today! i was hurt - after all i had got up specially for this....then he cross checked and told me it was at 7.30 which surprised my since i definitely remembered that it had been 7.00...khair so far so good- as long as i had a class to attend today!
well, i passed time on the stepper and was ready as soon as the instructor came....all started well.....my sister had always told me gory tales of aerobics classes.....how you begin to feel like running away, how all your muscles feel the true ache, how you gasp for breath and blood....yahan to things were pretty cool....i felt maybe first we were having a warm up since you need to get into the groove if you r going to do it for an hour.....half an hour later, i was gasping to keep in pace but not because of the exercise but because of the steps....all steps involved a lot of grace, fluidity - almost a sort of dance steps....now i know that wherever the D word comes, i am lost....i wont say that i ve not tried - in fact i ve given it my best shot under guru manju with the full support of great pillars like archana, meenal and ramya - and the end result of it all was just a laughing stock for these pillars and guru....so now i was really disappointed with the class and my performance.....but since i had woken up specially for this, and my faith in my sister's word is not easily broken, i somehow perservered and mastered the foot movements - the hand movements i did not even dare to try!
after one hour of this gruelling session, i had managed to work out a gentle sweat...i had to sadly conclude that my sister had been lucky and actually aerobics was not for me....my one hour could be better invested on the cardio machines....while leaving the gym, i just asked for a list of all batch class timings.....
when i went through the timings later, i saw that i had attended the DANCE aerobics class instead of aerobics...no wonder i felt they were dance steps and not exercise ones!
